ECE Program Components
Summer Institute
Summer Institutes are the core of the Early Childhood Education Pathway program. Scholars receive a stipend for attending the Summer Institutes. Participation in these Summer Institutes is mandatory.
First Summer: Scholars will participate in a five week program to be held at NLU's North Shore Campus. They reflect on their internship experiences in seminars facilitated by award-winning teachers. They also participate in a best practices core curriculum in early childhood education and aspects of the art and craft of teaching. Summer Institute will begin June 2010.
Second Summer: Scholars attend an intensive four week program to be held at NLU's North Shore Campus tailored to prepare for student teaching and job placement. This Summer Institute will begin July 2011.
Mentoring
In addition to mentoring during undergraduate years, the Golden Apple network of award winning teachers and colleagues provides support and professional development opportunities to Scholars as they begin their teaching careers.
